An authentic original steel engraving from 1860, created by the French illustrator Jules Desjardins (signed in the plate).
Each vintage print is a unique piece: after the image was printed on steel, the coloring was done entirely by hand in the workshop by specialized colorists.
Steel engraving from 1860 (Second Empire / Napoleon III), entirely hand-colored. Colorists of the time applied a fine watercolor wash with a brush, often combined with mineral pigments and gum arabic to give a unique brilliance and depth to the textures of silk and lace. No two hand-painted engravings are identical.
The paper is exceptionally fresh for its age, extremely clean, without foxing, stains, or soiling.
Presented under glass in an elegant period Interbellum frame (1920-1930) with a mat. Ready to hang, 40*30.
