Exceptional large Chinese hand-carved dragon bench and matching armchair, personally purchased in the Czech Republic in 1992. This is a highly impressive and richly decorated piece of Chinese furniture, featuring exceptionally detailed and deep hand-carved motifs including dragons, phoenixes, guardian lions, birds, flowers, clouds and traditional Chinese decorative elements. The bench is exceptionally solid, heavy and very stable. The extensive hand-carving covers the backrest, arms, sides, front apron and legs. The matching armchair has the same exceptional carving style and forms a beautiful and impressive set with the bench. BENCH DIMENSIONS: Width: 192 cm Depth: 75 cm Total height: 102 cm Seat height: 33 cm Lowest point of lower structure: approx. 20 cm from the floor The set was personally purchased by the current owner in the Czech Republic in 1992 for CZK 130,000 and has remained in the same private ownership ever since. The furniture is in very good overall condition. Both pieces are exceptionally stable and structurally sound. There are some minor age-related signs of use and small surface cracks in parts of the wood, visible in the detailed photographs. These are consistent with the age and handcrafted nature of the furniture. IMPORTANT – WEIGHT AND HANDLING: The furniture is exceptionally heavy and requires several strong people for safe handling. The bench requires at least four strong people for lifting and moving, while the armchair requires at least two strong people. Due to the exceptional weight, size and solid construction, professional handling is recommended and personal collection is strongly preferred. Please take the exceptional weight and handling requirements into consideration before purchasing. The exact species of wood has not been professionally laboratory tested; therefore, it is described as solid wood / hardwood rather than a specific wood species.
