Erpé stands for "Etablissements Ritzen & Penners." Named after its founders Leon Ritzen and Frans Penners who founded the company in 1914 in Brussels Belgium.
Erpé became known for its desk lamps in solid industrial style. Their most popular model was model 52. This model had a black bakelite or green enamel shade (with or without the letters ERPE).
At some point the name Erpé was changed to Erpe. However, nothing can be found about the reason for this.
