Product description
Endless Flow Rocking Chair / Endless Chair / 2010/11 Yellow first edition / MoMA Museum / Stedelijk Museum / Dirk van der Kooij Height 80 Width 42 Depth 68 cm The Endless Chair (2011 edition) by Dirk van der Kooij is an iconic piece of digital craft known for its unique, robot-produced appearance and sustainable character. It was a hard-fought graduation project that won the prestigious Dutch Design Award in 2011. Here are the key features of the 2011 edition: Production method (3D-printed): The chair is produced by a reconfigured industrial robotic arm (originally from a Chinese factory) that extrudes molten plastic. Material (Recycled plastic): The chair is made of recycled plastics, often sourced from old refrigerators. Structure ("Endless Line"): The robot lays down a single continuous, thick thread of molten plastic layer by layer to create the shape, resulting in a visible, "scalloped" or ribbed texture. Unique Appearance (2011 Edition): The early series, such as the one from 2011, were characterized by softly tinted plastic threads and a specific "wobbly" construction that showcased the imperfections of the early 3D printing process. The scalloping (shell-shaped patterns) was the result of a non-perfectly aligned motor, which has been deliberately retained as an aesthetic feature. Dimensions & Weight: The chair measures approximately (40 x 62 x 80 cm) (L x W x H), with a seat height of (40 cm) and weighs approximately (16 to 26 kg). Design Philosophy: The "Endless" series was born from the idea that the production process is just as important as the end result. The technique makes it possible to make each chair unique. The Endless Chair from 2011 has since been included in the collections of various museums, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the MoMA in New York, and the Design Museum London. #endlesschair #dirkvanderkooi #endlesschairmoma #yellowendlesschair #endlessstoel Additional details: - Brand: Logohuman - Designer: Dirk van der Kooij - Material: Recycled plastic - Period: 2010s
