A beautiful executive desk by the firm Eckhart (Rotterdam - The Hague) from the 1950s/60s.
The desk top is kidney-shaped. The desk is equipped with 2 pull-out shelves on both sides. On both the left and right sides, the desk features a lockable door with 4 wooden drawers behind it.
C.H. Eckhart was a renowned furniture factory, founded by C.H. Eckhart in Rotterdam in 1870, which was involved in, among other things, furnishing government buildings and palaces of the Royal House. In 1968, the furniture factory closed its doors, marking the end of the family business; the company name was sold and still exists in 2026.
The top has a width of 202 cm (tapering to 172 cm) with a brass edge. The depth of the top is 86 cm. The height of the desk is 76 cm. The tabletop is loose and 4.5 cm thick. The base measures 190 cm by 80 cm.
The cabinets are 77 cm deep x 48 cm wide. The drawers are 60-65 cm deep and 38 cm wide.
The pull-out shelves are 41 cm deep x 42 cm wide.
The tabletop has a number of minor damages (see photos). These can easily be repaired using a new coat of lacquer.
