Price for lamp including shade and cordless light bulb
Rare cordless table lamp made from an original vase by VEB Strehla, one of the most important ceramic manufacturers in the former GDR. The vase captivates with its unusual geometric design featuring relief-patterned rectangular panels and a vibrant turquoise glaze that displays different shades depending on the light.
The so-called chimney shape of the vase is particularly appealing. The side opening means the lampshade is intentionally not centered over the base. This creates an asymmetrical silhouette reminiscent of Scandinavian design rather than classic table lamps, giving the lamp its distinctive character.
The ceramic piece was produced by VEB Strehla in Saxony. This long-established manufactory was one of the most important ceramic companies in the GDR and produced numerous designs, some series even exclusively for export. Individual pieces from this series are now more commonly found on Scandinavian collector platforms than in Germany itself.
Lampshade
The handcrafted lampshade is covered with high-quality, dyed-through cotton. The leaf motif in shades of blue, green, and ochre harmonizes beautifully with the vase's glaze. When the lamp is switched on, a particularly vibrant play of light is created: the fine weave becomes visible.
Conversion to a Lamp: The vase was converted into a lamp with exceptional care. No drilling was carried out. The design utilizes a reversible solution, preserving the original ceramic and thus its full collector value. The interior was weighted with sand to ensure stability.
Technology – Wireless & Flexible: The lamp is powered by a rechargeable LED bulb, which can be charged via a USB-C cable. It provides up to 12 hours of illumination. The bulb can be purchased separately for approximately €12. The LED bulb is suitable for outdoor use. It can be dimmed using the included remote control – several light colors are adjustable. Thanks to its wireless design, the lamp is particularly well-suited for locations without a direct power outlet, such as balconies, patios, or gardens.
An exceptional, unique piece
The combination of rare East German ceramic, asymmetrical design, and the handcrafted lampshade makes this lamp a special collector's item and design object. It functions equally as a light source and a sculptural accent, creating a distinctive focal point on sideboards, windowsills, or small side tables.
