Brazilian Rosewood Lounge Chair with Black Leather Upholstery on a Black Aluminium Swivel Base
An exceptional example of the iconic Eames Lounge Chair produced for the European market by Vitra under license from Herman Miller. This piece stands out for its remarkably expressive Brazilian rosewood veneer displaying pronounced horizontal ribbon grain with deep contrasting bands running architecturally across the shells.
Unlike the more common irregular rosewood patterns this veneer reveals long continuous horizontal striations that visually emphasize the sculptural curvature of the molded plywood structure. The result is a powerful graphic rhythm that elevates the chair from functional seating to a collectible design object. Such strongly banded Brazilian rosewood veneers are rarely encountered and highly sought after among collectors.
The warm reddish tones and dark chocolate bands of the Dalbergia nigra veneer contrast beautifully with the black leather upholstery and black aluminium base reinforcing the timeless modernist character of the design.
