Product description
Display cabinet, mahogany, Edwardian style, pp. 20th century – England Elegant display cabinet in mahogany, original from the English Edwardian period. The furniture of this period achieves great simplicity of lines and a very sober and studied decoration, where the structure is left visible, constructive and aesthetic at the same time, utilitarian and beautiful. This display cabinet perfectly represents this refined and functional aesthetic, maintaining a balance between subtle ornamentation and practicality. Its dark mahogany structure combined with glass and the presence of integrated lighting in the sides of the door make it an exceptional piece, both for its decorative value and for its exclusivity within the collection furniture. Light and harmonious structure, with curved lines and stylized legs that reflect the neoclassical influence predominant in the Edwardian era. Semicircular in shape, with glass doors and sides, it allows a complete view of the interior, making it an ideal piece for displaying personal collections. The Edwardian era in the United Kingdom refers to the reign of Edward VII, son of Queen Victoria, between 1901 and 1910. However, the period extended until the end of the First World War in 1918. The new king, a traveler, established continental European tastes among the elite. The furniture of this period is characterized by an emphasis on elegance and sobriety, as opposed to the luxury and opulence of French furniture. Mahogany became the predominant material, introduced to the country during the second half of the 18th century. It was used without the superimposed brass decorations of earlier periods. Unlike Victorian furniture, which tended to be heavy and ornate, Edwardian furniture adopted a lighter aesthetic and neoclassical and Georgian influences, with marquetry details, turned legs, and an emphasis on symmetry and formal elegance.
