Space Age Discus wall/ceiling lamp, type '30531', white aluminium, Germany, 1960s-1970s, Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) for Honsel Leuchten
This lamp was manufactured in various sizes, including this 35 cm version. The simple yet ingenious design makes this lamp a real eye-catcher. Naturally, various types of (incandescent) bulbs can be used, but the lamp truly comes into its own when using a mirror head bulb. Charlotte Perriand used these lamps in the apartments of the French ski resort 'Les Arcs'. As a visionary designer, she coordinated the development of this unique winter sports village for 20 years. The wall lamp also gained fame through its use in the cult film 'A Clockwork Orange' by Stanley Kubrick.
