Rare Diabolo planter designed by Willy Guhl for Eternit, produced in Switzerland in the 1950s.
This early version, considered one of the first editions of the model, is distinguished by its more refined proportions and a particularly elegant silhouette, unlike later productions. Made of molded fiber cement, it displays a superb natural patina acquired over the decades, highlighting its sculptural character and authenticity. An iconic figure in 20th-century garden design, the Diabolo perfectly embodies Willy Guhl's innovative approach, combining formal simplicity, functionality, and harmonious integration into the environment. Its timeless design allows it to find its place equally well in a garden, on a terrace, or in a contemporary, brutalist, or modernist interior. The planter remains in excellent overall condition. It has not undergone any major restoration and retains all the presence and charm of its original material. The signs of age and use are consistent with its age and contribute to its authenticity.
This piece is a fine example of post-war Swiss design and is now a sought-after item for collectors of vintage garden furniture and Willy Guhl designs.
