“Demetrio 70” coffee table designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1964 and introduced into production in 1966, one of the most essential and radical projects of Italian design from the period.
The table is made from molded plastic produced in a single piece, allowing both the top and the structure to be formed from one continuous volume. The object appears as a sheet that bends downward on all four sides, naturally transforming into the legs and eliminating the need for additional structural elements.
The soft curves at the corners guide the surface toward the floor, creating a compact and stable form, while the brown finish emphasizes the monolithic character and geometric purity of the design.
The project perfectly reflects Magistretti’s approach, based on reducing form to its essence and using industrial production techniques to create objects that are simple, functional and highly recognizable.
