Looking for a quintessential Scandinavian pendant lamp? Then this might be the perfect match. This characterful bowl lamp from the 1970s or 1980s was designed by the Danish company Horn Belysning and is clearly inspired by Louis Poulsen's iconic PH lamps. The layered bowl structure provides a soft and even light distribution without glare.
Horn Belysning was founded in 1952 as E.S. Horn in Aalestrup, Jutland. Well into the 1980s, the company developed a wide range of affordable, well-designed lamps. Like many Danish manufacturers of that period, Horn also supplied lighting to IKEA. In the 21st century, the brand became part of the Danish design house Republic of Fritz Hansen.
This lamp looks stunning above a smaller dining table for four, but also fits perfectly in a living room, hallway, or bedroom. The bowls direct the light downward and all around, creating a warm and atmospheric lighting effect.
The lamp is in very good condition and shows hardly any signs of wear. The wiring has recently been replaced, and the lamp comes with a white, conical plastic ceiling rose.
