D-2093 FUGA TABLE LAMP BY MAIJA LIISA KOMULAINEN FOR RAAK AMSTERDAM – 1970s
An iconic piece of Dutch lighting history, the Fuga table lamp was designed by Finnish designer Maija Liisa (Maikki) Komulainen for Raak Amsterdam. Crafted in brushed aluminum, its striking silhouette was inspired by organ pipes, with concealed light sources that emit a warm, indirect glow—an elegant example of functional minimalism.
Komulainen, born in Kajaani, Finland in 1922, is celebrated for her futuristic and refined lighting designs. Her work with Raak in the 1970s, particularly the Fuga series, stands as a hallmark of space-age modernism. The lamp’s clean lines, architectural presence, and subtle play of light make it a standout in any modern interior.
Produced by Raak, one of the leading Dutch lighting manufacturers of the 20th century, this model (D-2093) is increasingly hard to find. This example is in excellent condition, with only minimal signs of wear and a few small marks on the base, consistent with its age.
A rare collector’s item and an exceptional piece of mid-century lighting design—ideal for anyone with a passion for high-quality, sculptural light objects.
