Product description
Wall sculpture in glazed ceramic from the 1950s by Helmut Schäffenacker. Its expressionist decoration and glazed reliefs are reminiscent of some of the anthropomorphic works of Pablo Picasso, Roger Capron, Jean Jaffeux, and the Cloutier brothers, created in terracotta.
Schäffenacker is my favorite German ceramicist. He was the son of Otto Schäffenacker, a famous painter of the early 20th century. The production of his ceramic workshop was very limited. His works are therefore rarer than those of other ceramicists of the time.
The plaque has a hanging system on the back.
Excellent overall condition with only a few minor signs of age for a piece that is nearly 70 years old.
