Double-walled terracotta bell-shaped cooler (or cooler), butter dish
This is a cooling utensil consisting of a dish and a terracotta bell that keeps whatever is placed underneath cool.
The bell is double-walled and is filled with water through one of the two holes in the top.
Because terracotta is a porous material, it will release moisture, creating heat exchange and thus cooling the bell.
Inside, the food to be cooled, usually butter, is not placed directly on the dish but in a non-porous dish or ramekin (not included), made of glass, stoneware, or earthenware.
It can also be used as is, to hold fruit or other items to keep cool.
This bell has a small defect due to its "handmade" nature, which can be seen in the photos. Despite the visible defect in one photo, the double-walled bell does not leak!
