Product description
White porcelain cake server manufactured by the Gien factory in the 1960s. The Faïencerie de Gien was founded in 1821 in Gien in the Loire Valley, in the heart of France, and its 200-year history is linked to the name of its founder, the Englishman Thomas Hall. Hall settled in Gien and bought the enclosure and buildings of the Minimes convent on the banks of the Loire, as the town abounded in raw materials (clays, sands, siliceous Loire pebbles) and, above all, the Loire enabled wood from the forests of Orléans to be transported to the kilns. It comes in the form of 2 plates in white porcelain, decorated with a floral motif and gold edging. They are attached to a beautifully shaped brass rod with sculpted leaves, forming a ring on the top that allows the server to be grasped for presentation. This server is in very good condition, each plate is engraved underneath with the manufacturer's name, garnished with cookies, it will be much appreciated by your guests over a coffee or a good chocolate thanks to its condition, its art deco style and its beautiful colors. Height 27 cm. Width of small plate 19 cm. Height " " " " " " " " " " " " 1, 5 cm. Width of larger plate 24 cm. Height " " " " " " " " " " " " 2 cm. Weight 0.8700 kg.
