This artwork is a colorful screen print (60 x 60) named “Cobra” by the famous Dutch artist Corneille (Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo), one of the key co-founders of the revolutionary CoBrA art movement.
• Year: 1988. The work was created by Corneille on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the CoBrA movement (1948).
• Edition: This specific copy is numbered 146 / 200 in the bottom right, which means it is part of a limited edition of 200 pieces.
• Symbolism: The composition is full of iconic CoBrA symbols, including the coiled snake (to which the name CoBrA partly refers), the sun, fantasy birds, a cat, and expressive female figures in vibrant, contrasting colors. It is behind glass in the original Barth frame (80 x 80), so the screen print is well preserved.
