This painting belonged to my stepmother. She and her then-husband received it as a token of gratitude from a Jewish painter to whom they had offered shelter in The Hague during the Second World War. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the painter. An appraiser tells me that this style and technique are known from artists such as Roelof Wildeboer, Paul Arntzenius, Jurgen Pletser, and Cor Noltee. Unfortunately, my father smoked a pipe, so the colors are no longer as vibrant as they originally were, but they are still quite beautiful!
