This exceptional Art Nouveau vase by the artist Edouard Lièvre is a conical vase with blue glass, set in a richly decorated, silver-plated bronze structure in a Japanese style reminiscent of bamboo, and signed by Christofle in Paris. The Japonism craze of late 19th-century France inspired Christofle to create refined pieces such as this slender tripod vase with its intricately worked bamboo branches, curved and carefully arranged, with delicate young shoots that perfectly complement the Asian aesthetic; between the finely chiseled legs (representing roots). A conical vase of crackled glass for flowers. It is a magnificent showpiece of great elegance and refinement, as this prestigious house was known for around 1890, and also reflects the trend of incorporating plants into decoration. A truly museum-worthy piece.
