Exceptional English Wing Chair, or wingback chair, upholstered in smooth cognac-colored leather with studs and wooden legs. The front feet are finished with the original brass casters. This is a very comfortable seat, intended for the reading corner, as the "ears" are designed to support the head. The condition of the leather reflects its age and use, providing an elegant appearance typical of this type of piece. The images serve as a description of the condition. The Chesterfield evokes British elegance and decorum in interior decoration and furnishings. It is not just an armchair, but part of a story. The term Chesterfield was commonly used in 19th-century England to describe a leather sofa. It is believed that the 4th Earl of Chesterfield, Phillip Stanhope, gave this name when ordering an elegant and comfortable piece of furniture in the 18th century. His preference was for an upholstered piece with deep buttons and rolled arms.
