We are pleased to present this splendid oil painting on plywood panel, dating back to the early 20th century. This magnificent work is signed at the bottom center: G. Ceragioli. The signature is attributable to the Italian painter Giorgio Ceragioli (Porto Santo Stefano, April 28, 1861 – Turin, December 11, 1947).
This captivating oval painting celebrates the Baroque and Rococo styles with a bright and festive allegorical scene. Three nude children, artistically known as cherubs, play at the center of the scene. A rich array of colorful flowers—roses, red poppies, and peonies—surround the children. To the left, a small classical temple nestled in a natural landscape. Color dominates this painting: bright pastel tones with strong contrasts between the red of the flowers and the cloudy sky.
