Product description
Object: Queen Wilhelmina Design: Charlotte van Palland Dimensions: (height) 15 x (width) 10 x (depth) 9 cm Origin: Holland Model: statue - sculpture Material: stone - plaster Period: 1965 Signed: yes, bottom sides Condition: good condition - used with minor signs of age and blemishes In 1964, the Chamber of Commerce in Rotterdam took the initiative to erect a statue of Queen Wilhelmina (1880-1962, Queen 1890-1948). The statue depicts the monarch upon her first return to the Netherlands in March 1945. At the unveiling of the statue in 1968, replicas were issued, possibly for sale to finance the statue. A number of stories about Queen Wilhelmina have been included in the Dutch Folk Tale Database. Stories also circulate regarding the crossing of the border in Eede on March 13, 1945. Queen Wilhelmina is said to have crossed the border unnoticed, but returned to cross the border—a line of flour—with dignity and great deliberateness. Additionally, so many people claim to have shaken her hand or nodded to her that she must have been in Eede for hours, rather than the five minutes she was actually there. Identical bronze replicas stand in The Hague and Uithoorn. This impressive bronze sculpture, created by the renowned artist Charlotte van Palland, captures the essence of Queen Wilhelmina in a powerful way. Featuring an inscription marking the years 1898–1948 and 1890–1962, this artwork pays tribute to an important era in Dutch history. - Crafted from high-quality bronze, this sculpture radiates durability and timeless beauty. - The detailed design reflects the masterful craftsmanship of Van Palland, known for its ability to bring historical figures to life. - This piece is not only a visual delight but also a historical statement that will enrich any art collection. Add this unique sculpture to your collection and experience the rich history and artistic value it offers. When shipped, the item is carefully packed to prevent damage.
