Unique and rare Murano glass vine wall sconce, Art Nouveau style, by designer Cesare Toso. Produced by the historically world-famous glass factory in Murano. Made in the 1970s. This is one of Toso's classic creations. Masterfully handcrafted and full of beauty. The iron and brass structure is painted completely green. The cluster consists of metal frames with hand-tied glass grapes. The handmade satin colored glass grapes and multicolored leaves have iron wire with which they are tied on a frame and assembled by Murano masters. The two bunches of grapes incorporate two lamp fittings for two light sources (E14) to create a unique play of light within the grapes and leaves. DESIGNER / ARTIST Cesare Toso STYLE Art Nouveau ESTIMATED PERIOD 1970s COUNTRY OF ORIGIN Italy (island of Murano) CONDITION The lamp is in very good condition and is complete (no leaves and grapes are missing) No breaks / not chipped. Electrically safe; reconditioned and tested. Two existing stitches of the iron wire on the main metal structure of the lamp have been renewed. DIMENSIONS (approx.). Height (45 cm) x Width (40 cm) x Depth (20 cm) TRANSPORT As shown in several photos, the lamp was set up and attached to a special hanging structure. This was necessary in order to clean the lamp, check and perform minor repairs professionally and finally take pictures from many different positions in order to capture many details in this way. This special hanging construction, together with the lamp as it is currently attached, will be sent along on transport where all the glass parts will be packed separately to avoid transport damage. Once received, the lamp is easily detached by first cutting the 5 black plastic tyraps. The lamp will then simply hang from a metal hook and can then be lifted very easily by the (green) metal inner frame of the lamp. Extending the electrical cord, if necessary, can be done from the cord switch. The connection directly at the back of the lamp has been professionally repaired (wire connections soldered and insulated with special shrink tubing). The lamp is heavy (between 5 and 7 kilograms). All glass parts are in perfect condition. On the inside of the lamp is the metal construction. The green paint has scratched here and there over time. On the iron wire there is some superficial oxidation here and there. All consistent with the age of the lamp (over 50 years) These scratches and slight superficial oxidation are easily repaired by applying a new coat of paint if desired. However, this was deliberately not chosen by seller because of the authenticity and the fact that these minor scratches, when the lamp is placed, are virtually invisible because the metal construction is behind the glass elements.
