It is a rare Pastoe Sideboard, designed by Cees Braakman in the 1960s.
This Sideboard was the highlight of my Dutch father-in-law's apartment for more than 40 years. He cared for it and nurtured it.
Material is wenge wood, it has 6 drawers, with the top one having a division for cutlery. There are four doors and six shelves. It stands on four simple, elegant metal feet.
Cees Braakman was an important Dutch furniture designer. Braakman designed a lot for Pastoe and, according to the company, had a major influence on the company's designs. He led Pastoe 's design team from 1945 to 1978 and developed the company's first postwar modern furniture line. In addition, he created a coherent furniture collection in which the focus was primarily on functionality as a commodity.Very good condition on the sides and front. Wear craters and abrasions on the back of the body. Slight small scratches and small, lighter spots on the storage surface.
