"In the early 1970s, Vico Magistretti designed the very comfortable Maralunga sofa for Cassina, which has been further developed in the workshops in Meda ever since. In 2014, Cassina added a piped seam to the design, and in 2024 the angle of the backrest was changed by 7 degrees to make the sofa even more comfortable. The special feature of the design is the folding backrest (see first illustration), which has served as a model for many other sofas to this day. Together with Cassina, Vico Magistretti developed a flexible metal construction around 1973 that allowed the armrests and backrests to be adjusted by the sitter themselves"
