This table lamp, designed by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega, is a quintessential example of 1970s Space Age design. The piece is defined by its distinctive stacked silhouette and the masterful use of Murano glass, reflecting the innovative spirit of Italian lighting from this era.
The lamp features a ribbed opal glass base and a spherical Murano glass shade, connected by a polished chrome band. It is equipped with an E27 socket in the upper sphere and two E14 sockets in the base, allowing for three distinct lighting modes: illuminating the sphere alone, the base alone, or both simultaneously. The original retro-style switch is preserved, adding to its authentic character. The combination of white and blue glass creates a striking visual contrast when illuminated.
The piece remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original wiring and functional components. The glass elements are intact, and the chrome detailing shows a patina consistent with age and careful use.
This lamp serves as a compelling focal point in both mid-century modern and contemporary interiors. Für eine optimale Ausleuchtung des geriffelten Glas-Sockels sollte eine entsprechend geeignete und ausreichend starke Leuchtmittel gewählt werden. Auf den Fotos ist teilweise nur ein eher schwaches Leuchtmittel eingesetzt, weshalb nicht jede Welle des Sockels gleichmäßig ausgeleuchtet erscheint. Die blaue Farbe der Kugel auf einigen Bildern entsteht ausschließlich durch eine verwendete Farbwechsel-Leuchte. Mit einer normalen weißen Leuchte erscheint die Kugel selbstverständlich weiß bzw. klar leuchtend.
Kleiner Hinweis zum Zustand:
Am unteren Sockel befindet sich eine sehr kleine, minimale Delle an der Unterseite bzw. Aufstellfläche. Sie ist von außen praktisch nicht sichtbar und nur bei genauer Betrachtung von unten bzw. bei gezielter Suche erkennbar. Die Optik und Funktion der Leuchte werden dadurch nicht beeinträchtigt.
