Carborundum (silicon carbide) is an abrasive powder applied to a metal plate with glue, creating a granular and irregular surface. Inked and then printed, it produces prints with unique, velvety, and deep textures, impossible to achieve by other processes. Each print is slightly different—this is what makes it a truly original work, not a reproduction.
Bernard Alligand is a renowned French printmaker specializing in contemporary printmaking. His work, rooted in abstraction, is distinguished by an exceptional mastery of materials and color.
