A pair of brass and white-lacquered metal task or bed lights designed by Jacques Biny and produced by Lita, France, during the 50s.
The lamp is dimmable using a brass rotary knob on the top. The metal shade, with a two-tone patina (gold-plated brass on the outside) and white lacquered on the inside, rotates and hangs from a brass rod, which is itself attached to a round metal suspension system. The bulb is a long, thin E14 type, and the base is made of Bakelite.
Jacques Biny (1913-1976) French industrial designer, interior designer and producer, was particularly active in the 1950s through the 1970s in France.
