Bram Reijnders – “Beware of your protector”
A powerful and unique work by Dutch artist Bram Reijnders, known for his raw, layered mixed-media style in which street culture, pop art, and symbolism converge.
This work (120 x 120 cm) is constructed from layers of billboard material, combined with photographic techniques and finished with a deep layer of epoxy. The result is a sculptural, almost tangible surface with enormous depth and gloss.
The depicted monkey is derived from Japanese traffic signs warning to watch out for monkeys. Combined with the title “Beware of your protector,” the image takes on a double meaning: who protects whom, and who should you *really* watch out for? This tension between warning and protection makes this a work that continues to intrigue.
