Bodil Kjær Rosewood Desk With Chrome Base, Denmark, 1960s
This beautiful freestanding desk, named Working Table, was designed in 1959 by the Danish designer Bodil Kjær. It was produced by E. Pedersen & Søn in Denmark. This particular piece is made of Danish rosewood veneer with chromed steel legs.
This desk is probably one of the most iconic Mid-Century desks ever designed. It was featured in no less than three James Bond films: From Russia with Love (1963), You Only Live Twice (1967), and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969). More recently, the desk also appeared in Kingsman (2014).
This very rare and architecturally designed piece of furniture needs some restoration, both the desktop (polishing) and the base (re-chroming). The drawers are missing.
