Delicate linear forms float against the deep blue that Miro associated with dreams. Along with André Masson, Miro was the first to create images using automatic techniques in which forms seemed to emerge directly from the unconscious. From this, he derived his own sign language, simplifying familiar elements such as stars, birds, and body parts.
