Active in: Amsterdam (2008-2010), Tuscany (2010). Gerti Bierenbroodspot (09-05-1940, Amsterdam) is a versatile artist who uses many diverse materials and masters various disciplines. The central theme in her work can be described as a labyrinth of time in which we wander. Classical antiquity is an important source of inspiration for Bierenbroodspot; consequently, she has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and worked on location there. Through these travels, she has seen many archaeological excavations, which are an integral part of her work, as are the colors and materials Gerti Bierenbroodspot uses for this purpose. In much of Bierenbroodspot's work, particularly in her paintings, you will encounter parts of ancient temples and other structures.
