A rare and highly decorative coffee table attributed to Belarti, Belgium, dating from the 1970s. This distinctive design combines a chromed steel frame, floating smoked glass top and an integrated ceramic artwork panel, creating a striking blend of functionality and artistic expression.
The ceramic panel features an abstract composition in deep red, black and earthy tones, adding warmth and character to the clean architectural lines of the chrome structure. The floating smoked glass top enhances the visual lightness of the design while allowing the ceramic artwork to remain fully visible from above.
Belarti is internationally recognised for its innovative use of ceramics in furniture and lighting during the 1960s and 1970s. Models combining chrome, smoked glass and decorative ceramic elements are considerably rarer than standard production pieces and have become increasingly sought after by collectors of Belgian Space Age and Mid-Century Modern design.
The table works beautifully as a centrepiece in both vintage and contemporary interiors and offers a refined balance between sculptural form and everyday functionality.
Condition
Very good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with its age. The original smoked glass top remains in very good condition. There are a few very small chips along one short edge of the glass on one side. These are discreet, barely noticeable during normal use and do not affect the appearance, stability or functionality of the table.
The chrome frame presents well and the ceramic artwork panel remains vibrant and decorative.
