This exclusive French 'Cave à Liqueur' or liquor chest dates from the Napoleon III period, circa 1860. It is a refined example of nineteenth-century furniture art, in which the undulating design immediately catches the eye.
The chest is crafted from a dark wood, presumably rosewood or burr walnut veneer, and is richly decorated. The top and front feature geometric inlay of lustrous mother-of-pearl and brass, with a mother-of-pearl cartouche centrally located on the lid. The interior houses a nearly complete set consisting of four heavy cut crystal decanters with a diamond pattern and original stoppers, accompanied by six matching liqueur glasses. The dimensions are 25 cm in height, 31 cm in width, and 24 cm in depth.
The object is in authentic antique condition, befitting an age of over 150 years. The inlay is largely well preserved, and the glassware is clear and intact.
This liquor chest forms a striking element in a classic or eclectic interior. It is a collectible piece that comes into its own as both decorative and functional on a sideboard or side table.
