The modular element sofa “Camaleonda” by B&B Italia is probably one of the most recognizable pieces of furniture in the design world.
Mario Bellini designed the unique sofa in 1969, and his innovation would not only have a decisive influence on the 1970s that quickly followed.
The Camaleonda collection by Bellini and B&B has been a lasting favorite for over 50 years now. It is not only the expressive design of the sofa that plays a decisive role, but above all the modular structure of the seating furniture and the associated great flexibility and modularity that make the Camaleonda a sofa that still looks modern today. The individual elements can be combined as desired. In the late 1960s, Italian designer Bellini created a piece of furniture that is in greater demand than ever, especially in the contemporary interior design world:
The Camaleonda adapts to its surroundings, can be used in various living situations, and is therefore a companion throughout life.
That is, incidentally, where the name comes from: Camaleonda is a combination of anaconda and chameleon.
The chameleon gives the sofa its adaptability, while the anaconda perhaps gives it its grand appearance. This sofa makes an impression; the low seat with its distinctive dimples and the voluminous, undulating shape of the armrests and backrest give the Camaleonda its impressive design language.
It is a luxurious sofa, a statement piece that also manages to remain understated in the interior.
The new models from 2020 have received a refresh, and since then, the Camaleonda features even more comfortable, springy upholstery than before, making both sitting and lying down truly comfortable. The sandwich structure on the inside is made of sustainable and recyclable materials. The cover is fully removable.
