Product description
For sale is an absolutely magnificent Baroque writing desk, also known as a cylinder desk or secretary, which impresses with its opulent design and exquisite craftsmanship. The curved front, elegant cabriole legs, and rich ornamentation are typical of the Baroque style. The body is adorned with intricate inlays of various precious woods, forming floral patterns, tendrils, and decorative bands. The detailed marquetry work on the cylinder lid and drawer fronts is particularly impressive. The cylinder lid slides smoothly upwards, revealing a sophisticated interior. Here, a series of smaller drawers, open compartments, and a pull-out writing surface are concealed, all also decorated with fine wood inlays. The upper section offers additional storage space with two curved drawers fitted with elaborate, gilded bronze fittings and handles. The wood has a warm, deep luster that accentuates the beauty of the inlays and the patina of age.
The cylinder lid slides smoothly upwards, revealing a sophisticated interior. Details:
