Description: A magnificent and rare antique French display cabinet / bookcase in a rich Neo-Renaissance style. This authentic piece of furniture dates from the late 19th century (c. 1870-1900) and is crafted from solid oak with high-quality, handmade carving. An absolute eye-catcher with a unique historical story, perfect for books, collections, or tableware. Special features: Unique thematic crown: The cabinet features the original, detachable top crown (pediment) including the two turned wooden decorative finials. Woodcarving: Deeply carved panels with detailed symbolism of science, literature, and art. Twisted columns: Featuring iconic hand-carved spiral columns (barley twist columns) on either side of the doors. Layout: The interior features 3 sturdy, original wooden shelves. At the bottom of the cabinet is a large, wide drawer spanning the entire width. Glassware & lock: The doors feature the original glass panels. The authentic locking mechanism (including a working key) is present.
