DESCRIPTION:
The "Mogensen 22 Collection" is the epitome of Børge Mogensen as a designer and artist, and also represents the image of Danish design in the mid-20th century. The series embodies Mogensen's unique sense of proportion, which defined the versatility of the furniture throughout his life. At the heart of Børge Mogensen's furniture design was the individual and their life, and with the "22 Collection" in particular, the goal was to create the ultimate sofa. Initially designed in 1962 for Mogensen's own apartment, the sofa was soon expanded to include further versions of sofas, armchairs, and stools. Mogensen's uncompromising approach to furniture quality has become the core of Fredericia Furniture, which maintains the spirit of originality in production through traditional carpentry. This unique craftsmanship ensures the furniture's longevity and high-end quality.
The armchair's construction is based on the same clean lines as the sofa. In profile, the piece displays a beautifully curved contour of the armrests and backrest, which also provides fantastic seating comfort. Piping trims the armchair's silhouette, adding the finishing touch. Four solid oak legs support the piece and give it height. This creates a formal yet comfortable seating experience that suits both private and public spaces.

DESIGNER:
Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was one of the most influential designers shaping modern Danish design and the founding designer of Fredericia. A trained cabinetmaker and furniture designer, he attended the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and subsequently the School of Furniture Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he was taught by Kaare Klint. Mogensen drew inspiration from around the world in his pursuit of creating everyday objects that would last for generations and believed that furniture should convey a sense of calm and an understated appearance. He was celebrated for his masterful sense of materials and proportions and created designs that are exhibited and admired in leading design museums worldwide. In 1950, Mogensen was awarded the Eckersberg Medal, in 1953 he won the annual prize of the Copenhagen Carpentry Guild, and in 1972 he received the C. F. Hansen Medal.
MATERIAL:
- Naturally grained cowhide nappa leather, naturally grown, unique in its pattern of pores, scars, and surface texture, drum-dyed with aniline, lightly pigmented (semi-aniline), easy to care for, durable yet soft and supple, offering exceptional longevity and value retention.
- Chambered down pillows.
- Solid lacquered oak.

Note:
The photos are overexposed to ensure the pristine condition is visible in detail. This generally makes colors appear lighter (black appears more gray). CONDITION:
Like new! This set is virtually indistinguishable from new and shows almost no signs of wear. It's something truly special; you might only find something like this once in a lifetime. It features the original, buttery-soft premium leather with the original pure down cushions (which Fredericia no longer offers in this configuration). These cushions retain their original fullness, just as they were when delivered; they are in no way flattened or have been refilled!
Everywhere you look, it looks brand new! Even the backs of the cushions and the cushion covers look brand new! The legs also look like new; you won't find any of the usual scratches or scuffs!
There's simply no need to describe it any further. You can search the world for a better example; you won't find it anywhere else in better condition. It's definitely something that will make any collector's heart beat faster and is incomparable to the usual used sets, or sets that are no longer original because the leather or upholstery has been replaced due to advanced wear and tear. In those cases, you'll still find the marks and scratches from decades of use on the legs.
This set is in a league of its own!
