Hans Leijerzapf was born in Leiden in 1951. In 1974 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in graphics and painting. At the Academy Hans already had a predilection for anecdotal painting and drawing and felt that art should not be "elevated" but rather part of society. Over the years he developed his style and choice of subjects. Hans Leijerzapf has a thing for men busy with everyday or not so everyday objects. They are often awkward poses, as if the men are busy with something useless and the object does not matter at all. Art painting original piece!
