An Art-Deco-style silver-patinated bronze vase by Arisu Mitsuo 有栖美津雄(b. 1937), known under the artist name Bizan 美山.
Of compact globular form, the body rises from a short, slightly flared foot to a waisted neck with a lipped rim. The shoulder is finely decorated with a rhythmic composition of concentric circles in low relief, each centred by a small raised knob, evoking ripples on water.
The surface is finished in a deep, dark silver patina with a softly textured appearance.
Sealed to the underside: ‘Bi’ 美.
