Offered: An extremely rare and museum-quality Art Deco sculpture by the celebrated Italian sculptor Emilio Musso (1890-1973).
This refined sculpture, titled Nudo Seduto (Seated Nude), dates from around 1930 and is in beautiful condition. This is a unique piece executed in glazed terracotta.
While many objects from this period were mass-produced, this studio model was handcrafted or uniquely finished by the artist. The subtle, soft-gloss glaze accentuates the flowing, streamlined forms so characteristic of the heyday of European Art Deco. Musso, originally from Turin and trained at the Accademia Albertina, flawlessly combines classical Italian elegance with the modern, geometric design language of the interwar period in this work.
