Product description
The Willow 1 is one of the most famous furniture icons of the 20th century, designed in 1904 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the famous Willow Tearooms in Glasgow.
This rare collector's item comes from an early, licensed edition of the 1970s, produced by the Italian manufacturer Cassina according to the original dimensions of the Glasgow School of Art. It bears the engraved serial number 622 and thus belongs to a limited, numbered edition.
The construction of ebonized ash impresses with its striking, semicircular curved backrest with precisely crafted lattice structure, which gives the design its unmistakable architectural presence. Under the upholstered seat, which is provided with the original, light fabric cushion, there is a practical storage compartment elegantly integrated into the design.
This piece comes with the original Cassina information card, which documents its authenticity and origin.
This numbered version from the 1970s is considered particularly sought after, as it combines Cassina's high quality of workmanship with the faithful implementation of the historical design.
