Product description
AO-T2AL-003 is a sculpture/art object by the Op Art artist L.J. Billion. The object consists of a white lacquered wooden base into which a transparent, fluorescent yellow Plexiglas panel is embedded. Both sides of the panel are covered with nine convex mirrors each, reflecting their surroundings from slightly different perspectives. The base is illuminated, so the Plexiglas glows in low light or darkness – equipped with a USB-C cable with a switch, compatible with any standard USB power adapter (not included). Dimensions: approx. H 18.4 x W 15 x D 4.4 cm.
The object is signed "B" in the lower right corner, and the underside is labeled and hand-signed. The series is limited to 10 pieces; all objects are handmade and therefore slightly different – you will receive number 1/10.
As is characteristic of the artist, reflections, geometric patterns, and color are central to his work. Because L.J. Billion primarily works with reflective materials, the viewer sees not so much the object itself, but rather the reflection of its surroundings—thus, the work never appears the same depending on the time of day, lighting conditions, and viewing angle. Since viewers are reflected in the work itself, they become part of it, which encourages many to interact with the object through movement. For this reason, the artist describes his art as "passive-kinetic."
The name L.J. Billion is a pseudonym—the artist's true identity is unknown. He frequently appears as a reflection in his own works, but always masked.
