Product description
Beautiful small wall cabinet for keys or other items. These cabinets are also sometimes referred to as apothecary cabinets.
It is a wooden cabinet with a stained-glass window, featuring a floral figure in the center, most likely made of pressed brass or possibly copper. Both can turn green; the motif was not 'hammered'.
Based partly on the original owner, the period can be identified as antique/the Art Deco period. Characteristics of this period:
"The flower is perfectly centered within a square panel, enclosed by an octagonal border where the corners are filled with tight, symmetrical triangular fan patterns.
The petals are highly stylized and reduced to streamlined, repeating forms. The leaves rotate in a tight, mechanical-looking spiral (a gear or turbine design) around a central diamond-shaped center point, with a perfectly round bead. This abstraction reflects the Art Deco era's fascination with modernity and machines. The Art Deco period effectively forced nature into a rigid framework." The cabinet is in good overall condition; the key and lock work and close properly, with a beautiful antique patina. The hanging hooks are good and sturdy, but please check them before hanging it up or placing weight on it.
