Beautiful, original antique bentwood high chair in the characteristic Thonet style, dating from around the turn of the century (approx. 1900). A rare and charming collector's item, complete with the original wooden folding table/tray that folds over the backrest.
Features:
Artisan weaving: Both the seat and the backrest feature authentic, hand-woven webbing (Viennese weaving). Considering its age, the weaving is in remarkably good and sturdy condition!
Construction: Bent beech wood with the original, characteristic square nuts and authentic patina.
Condition:
The chair is in a lived-in, antique condition with signs of wear consistent with its age (see photos).
Note: There is a crack/splintering in the bent wood on the underside of the backrest (see the clear detail photo). For a handy DIYer or restorer, this can easily be stabilized and repaired using wood glue and a clamp. The price has therefore been adjusted accordingly.
A beautiful decorative piece for the enthusiast of historical design or antique toys/furniture.
