This antique Swat Valley bridal chest (Ghurra) dates from the 19th century and originates from the Hindu Kush region in present-day northern Pakistan. Such chests were traditionally crafted for weddings to store the bride's dowry. Typical for this region are the four distinctive corner posts topped with artfully turned finials. The detailed chip carvings feature floral rosettes, stylized sunwheels, and dense geometric patterns deeply rooted in Dardic folk art.
