This antique bronze Buddha sculpture originates from a Sino-Himalayan or Tibetan-influenced workshop, crafted as a traditional devotional object. The figure is depicted seated in deep meditation, with the right hand raised in the Abhaya mudra, a sacred gesture symbolising protection, reassurance, and freedom from fear. Measuring 11 centimetres in height and 7 centimetres in width, the piece is traditionally hollow-cast in bronze with an open base. The reverse of the monastic robe is richly decorated with hand-incised and carved patterns, demonstrating the manual workmanship of its era. Layered dark-brown bronze tones are combined with areas of green oxidation, creating a deep and varied surface without the presence of modern lacquer or artificial patination. The sculpture remains in a well-preserved antique condition, retaining its original character and structural integrity. Natural oxidation, mineral deposits, and traces of age remain visible inside the hollow cavity, consistent with traditional manufacture and prolonged ritual use. The aged patina within the carved grooves indicates that the decoration predates the natural ageing of the surface.
