Antique SINGER Treadle Sewing Machine - Model 127K/27K "SPHINX" – Scotland, 1910 Beautiful and authentic antique Singer treadle sewing machine (Model 27K or 127K) produced in the first half of 1910 in the legendary Singer factory in Clydebank (Kilbowie), Scotland. This example is over 116 years old and is in remarkably beautiful, original condition. The sewing machine head features the highly beloved and iconic "Sphinx" (also known as Memphis) transfers. These gold-colored Egyptian decorations have been beautifully preserved and show the winged sphinx on both the arm and the base plate. The machine features the authentic vibrating shuttle system with the characteristic boat-shaped bobbin. The original, large brass Singer badge adorns the bottom right of the vertical column. The machine is mounted on the original, robust cast iron base with the openwork "SINGER" logo in the frame and the accompanying foot pedal. The wooden cabinet features a fine drawer system on the left side and a folding extension leaf. The machine also includes the original, beautifully curved wooden dust cover (bentwood cover), which completes the set as a historical ensemble.
