Rare and authentic rectangular vase-flask with four flat sides, crafted from Qajar-era ceramic art pottery (Persia, late 19th century).
This highly collectible piece, made of thick siliceous earthenware, displays a superb pictorial decoration, entirely hand-painted. It is distinguished by its main face, featuring a stylized fish in cobalt blue hues gliding through a saffron lotus, a traditional aquatic motif highly symbolic in Persian art.
The upper shoulder is adorned with two rare palm motifs that elegantly embrace the neck.
The glaze boasts a glossy, thick lead glaze that enhances the pigments beneath the varnish and reveals a magnificent network of age-related crackles.
A captivating Islamic antique for a sophisticated interior.
