Antique anchor lantern (Ankerlicht) from the late 1800s, a type of nautical lamp. These lanterns were traditionally used on ships to signal that the vessel was at anchor. The lantern is composed of a solid metal frame with yellow hand-blown glass. The sturdy design and metal cage around the glass served to protect the lamp from impacts and bad weather. Originally oil-powered, it is now electrified and can be used both indoors and outdoors. Total height 50cm, lamp height 30cm, diameter 29cm, weight 3.9kg. Glass in perfect condition, with signs of age and use.
